Year 2 Science
In science the year 2 children have been looking around the school grounds for micro-habitats. We went into the forest school and looked under the logs. We found lots of different creepy crawlies. Some of the children were feeling brave enough to hold some of them.

Year 2 Anti-Bullying Week
This week the children in year 2 have enjoyed a range of activities linked to Anti-bully Week. We have celebrated being unique by wearing our odd socks to school and in class we watched video clips showing different types of bullying. The children then completed work to show their understanding of the difference between bullying and being unkind and then thought about feelings linked to being bullied.

Year 1 Maths
Year 1 have continued their exploration of odd and even numbers in maths this week. They have explored how odd and even numbers can be partitioned and if there are any rules and patterns to how they can be partitioned.

Year 1 Writing
In Year 1 our writing lessons have been very busy this week. We have started our new writing journey based on the book Handa's Surprise. To help generate ideas for adjectives this week, the children enjoyed tasting may of the fruits from the story - exploring the shape, colour, texture and taste of the fruits. The children then used these adjectives to write sentences about the fruits. The children then retold the story to their partner using the story maps they created.

Year 1 Geography
Year 1 have started their first Geography topic this week. This is another exciting area of learning for the children to begin. They worked collaboratively today to understand what Geography is and the difference between human and physical geography.

Y4 - African Savanna
To kickstart our English learning journey on The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo, children in Year 4 took part in a pre-teach lesson. They explored the African savanna, its climate and the animals that live there. This has helped them build background knowledge so they can write more creatively in their narratives. Stay tuned!

Year 1 PE
The children have continued their topic of controlling objects. This week they were excellent at dribbling a basketball. The worked hard to control the ball whilst standing still and then developed the skill at dribbling whilst walking.

The children in Year 1 worked with Mr Fletcher this week to learn how to control the computer mouse. The children were able to follow instructions carefully and develop good control on the mouse enabling them to draw a picture on the laptops!

Year 1 Music
Year 1 have continued to explore the 'pulse' in their music lessons using their voices. This week they worked with a partner to collaborate on a speaking task, in time with music, maintaining a constant pulse. Although it was tricky to start with, the children persevered and became really successful by the end of the lesson.
