Wow!! Our Science week lesson was a really exciting today. The children had been challenged to think about Curious Chemistry. They started with milk, food colouring and washing up liquid to make the colours move and then they used skittles to create rainbows on their plates. It was a huge challenge to observe only with our eyes, but the results were amazing!

Year 4 kickstarted British Science Week with lots of curiosity as they explored the fizzy reaction between citric acid and bicarbonate of soda to make their own sherbet sweets. They tasted the ingredients and created their own recipe based on their taste preferences, before enjoying their sherbet by dipping in a lollipop. Yum!

What's the time Year 1?  This week in maths we have been focussing on time. We have used clocks to help us learn to read and write the time to o'clock and half past.

The Year 1 children have been busy creating book reviews and explaining why their books are their favourite during our World Book Week celebrations.

The Year 1 children were thrilled to visit the book fair and select their own books today to bring home as part of World Book Week at school. They chose a wide variety of fiction and non fiction to enjoy!

Year 1 have come to the end of their Seasonal Changes topic this week, by investigating how clouds are made. They conducted an experiment with warm water and an ice cube to observe how water vapour cools and and forms the start of clouds.

We had a really successful parent workshop last week in Year 1, that focussed on handwriting and oral story telling. It was fantastic to see so many families attending!

In Science, Year 4 have kick-started their new science topic; States of matter. They explored the properties of solids, liquids, and gases by investigating balloons filled with ice, water, and air and discussed how each state of matter behaves differently.

This week, children in year 4 took part in Bikeability. Some learnt to ride for the very first time, while others sharpened their skills and grew in confidence. We were so proud of their determination!

The children have been using their oracy skills to retell the section of Zog that they will be writing about next week. They created their 's' plans before telling their friends what was happening.

In PSHE this week, the Year 1 children have continued to discuss and reflect on what responsible behaviour in school and the classroom looks like.

In Year 1 this week, outdoor PE was a real pleasure in the sunshine! We have been battling the cold and rain. The children completed their topic on Fundamental Movement Skills, by learning to throw and kick a ball from their hand. This was a tricky skill to master, but there was some real success by the end of the session!

Children in year 4 explored maps of UK theme parks and designed symbols for their own theme park maps. Look out for their fantastic creations coming soon!

Reception children have been working collaboratively to design and make an igloo using construction materials.

Reception have been practising their understanding of prepositions.

Reception shared what they would take into space.

Reception continue to develop their understanding of number exploring numbers 8 and 9.

Reception showed their understanding of polar regions by selecting the correct clothes for their characters to wear.

Reception have learnt more about recycling and how to look after the planet.

In maths this week, Year 1 have completed their thinking about teen numbers with a teen number hunt in the classroom and a game using dice. They worked hard to partition the numbers and show their understanding of how they are made.
