We have been busy collecting adjectives about what we can see in the South Pole part of our story Lost and Found. The children worked collaboratively and creatively to create some fantastic adjective word banks.

The children in Reception have really enjoyed engaging in small world space adventures, using phrases like ‘5,4,3,2,1, lift off!!’ and ‘ Look out, look out the rocket ship is coming!’ They have also created their own stories, such as one child’s figure climbed the tower to be able to communicate with them.

Children in Year 1 have completed their first 'Lost and Found' writing journey, based on the book by Oliver Jeffers. They have worked exceptionally hard to ensure their sentences make sense, have the correct punctuation and that their handwriting is neat! I think you will agree that have done very well!

The children have continued their work on Seasonal Change in science this week, with a focus of winter. The children considered what could be observed with the weather and temperature and what happens in these seasons. They then explored how ice and snow are formed. They created their own crystals and then made 'snow', which was great fun!

Y5 have started their new topic fractions this week. They have revised prior learning of unit fractions and how to find fractions of amounts and began to look at equivalent fractions.

Year 1 have been busy over the last 2 weeks exploring and investigating number bonds to 10 and 20. They have consolidated their knowledge of the bonds through using resources, using rhymes and noticing patterns.

Year 1 have been busy investigating leaf colour this week, as part of their topic 'Changing Seasons'. The children collected leaves, made predictions about what colours there would be in them and then tested them using water. They then also explored how colour moves and changes using felt tip pens and water on filter paper.

Year 1's PSHE day lasted us all week. The children took an in-depth look and exploration of the new 'Feelings Framework' that we are now using in school. The children worked collaboratively over the week to share their ideas and gain a greater understanding of how emotions and feelings are different, how emotions can impact our bodies and what they can do to get themselves back into the ready-learn zone. We have been enjoying role play in our very own Space Station, using our imaginations as we explore Space.

We have really been inspired by this week's topic, creating 2D and 3D pieces linked to Space and aliens.

This week's topic of Space has inspired lots of imaginative play during Continuous Provision.

We have been exploring number and making 6.

On PSHE day, we introduced the children to the school’s ‘Feelings Framework’. We are learning about the names of different emotions and what our bodies look like when we feel different things.

After finding that a space ship had crashed in our playground, we explored the different parts that had been left behind. We spoke about the shape, and the feel of them and wondered what each part could be. We then went back into class and thought more about who or what the space ship belonged to.

Y5 have worked really hard this week developing their rounding whole number skills. Next week - decimals!

Science and the seasons! ☀️❄️🌿🍂🌻 The children have been exploring their new topic about the changes of the seasons in science this week. Today, the children have been sorting clothes to match the weather and the seasons.

In maths this week, the children have been investigating weight using balance scales. They have described objects by using the words heavier and lighter. They then recorded their ideas using the sentence stems.

Y5 have enjoyed developing their geometry skills practicing coordinates, translation and finding lines of symmetry. They also used these skills to create some lovely Christmas art!
