This week, Year 4 have been taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week. 💛 We explored different ways we can look after our mental health and well-being. Children created some thoughtful and creative pieces of work, sharing ideas!

Year 1 Writing and Science
In our writing lesson today, the children practised their instructional language by creating a video on how to plant a bean. They then used their own instructions to plant up their own beans that they have been growing in science.

Year 1 have explored data today in their maths lessons and made their first bar charts, based on images they were given. Some of the children used symbols, some used colours and some used counters to represent their data.

Year 1 have been busy today making their own representations of plants, making sure they include the main parts or roots, stem, leaves and flowers. The children used a mixture of resources to create their plants and then labelled them to show their knowledge.

Year 1 Science
This week in Science, Year 1 have continued to explore the theme of plants. This session was focussed on identifying, drawing and then labelling the main parts of a plant. The children then share their ideas about the purpose of these parts.

Year 1 Maths
This week in Maths, the Year 1 children have continued to use their knowledge of groups of 10, to begin to explore larger 2-digit numbers using different maths equipment. They have worked with a partner and then more independently to identify how many tens are in a number and then how many extra ones there are.

Year 1 RE
The children completed their topic about the Sikh religion this week, by creating posters about their knowledge of this faith. They first discussed key themes from the religion and how these relate to them in school and at home. The children used images and words to convey their ideas.

Year 1 PSHE
Today in PSHE, the children in Year 1 completed their topic about online safety by creating rules and posters for younger children with tips about how to keep yourself safe online.

Year 1 Maths
Maths in Year 1 this week has all been about multiples of 10. Initially the children identified if groups of objects were 10 or not 10. Then they made a multiple of 10 with resources. As their confidence has grown the children have then used resources and jottings to help them add and subtract multiples of 10.
