The Year 1 children have been busy creating book reviews and explaining why their books are their favourite during our World Book Week celebrations.

The Year 1 children were thrilled to visit the book fair and select their own books today to bring home as part of World Book Week at school. They chose a wide variety of fiction and non fiction to enjoy!

We had a really successful parent workshop last week in Year 1, that focussed on handwriting and oral story telling. It was fantastic to see so many families attending!

The children have been using their oracy skills to retell the section of Zog that they will be writing about next week. They created their 's' plans before telling their friends what was happening.

Reception have been practising their understanding of prepositions.

The children were inspired by their poetry week and spent time planning and creating their own poems based on what makes them happy.

Y6 have produced some fantastic diary entries based on the amazing book Oranges in No Mans Land. Well done :)

Y5 children have published their final pieces of writing based on the Highway man. We are very pleased with the final results :)

Year 1 have been busy in their writing lesson today. They had an immersive session with snow and ice to help them generate adjectives for their writing next week.

We have been busy collecting adjectives about what we can see in the South Pole part of our story Lost and Found. The children worked collaboratively and creatively to create some fantastic adjective word banks.

Children in Year 1 have completed their first 'Lost and Found' writing journey, based on the book by Oliver Jeffers. They have worked exceptionally hard to ensure their sentences make sense, have the correct punctuation and that their handwriting is neat! I think you will agree that have done very well!

Children in Year 4 have kick started their writing journey on an explanation text on the digestive system. Today, they explored High Level Vocabulary to apply in their writing.

Y5 enjoyed using hot seating to help explore how Oliver Twist felt writing a letter to Mr Bumble to try and persuade him to treat the orphans better.

Year 1 have had a busy week, developing their ideas before they write about the story The Little Red Elf. The children have created their own story planning maps, developed actions for the story and used freeze frame drama techniques to understand what the characters are doing and feeling.

Year 1 have completed their alternative Handa's Surprise stories this week. They worked hard to make changes to the animals, fruits and vegetables that we would have in this country. They were also able to use adjectives effectively to describe the animals and fruits and bring a clear picture to the readers minds. The children also then rehearsed and performed their sentences to the class!

Y5 have produced some fabulous reports on the circus including using our new writing skill of parenthesis.  Well done everyone :)

Year 1 have been busy again developing their writing skills. We have been enjoying reading the book 'Handa's Surprise', and so last week they wrote sentences about the animals taking Handa's fruit and used adjectives to describe the fruit!

This week, parents and families were invited to join their children in their phonics lessons. We were thrilled that so many adults joined us and were able to see phonics in action and see how well their children are working in these lessons.

This week, the children in Year 1 continued their writing journey based on the book Handa's Surprise. On Monday they worked collaboratively to act out the story using props in a speaking and listening drama lesson. This has then helped them to write sentences about the animals taking Handa's fruit using verbs and adjectives.

In Year 1 our writing lessons have been very busy this week. We have started our new writing journey based on the book Handa's Surprise. To help generate ideas for adjectives this week, the children enjoyed tasting may of the fruits from the story - exploring the shape, colour, texture and taste of the fruits. The children then used these adjectives to write sentences about the fruits. The children then retold the story to their partner using the story maps they created.
