Year 1 Writing
Year 1 have been working on their oral sentence building this week in English, in preparation for writing about their trip to the Safari Park. The children selected pictures and used sentence stems to share their ideas about these animals. Then they planned their recount and used this to rehearse sentences that they will write.

Year 1 RE
The children have continued their exploration of Sikhism this week by looking at the Langar that is inside the Gurdwara, They have found out about why it is there and who can use it. Some of the children created vegetarian meals that could be served in the langar and some of the children have developed their ideas of how Sikhism values contribute to the preparation, serving and eating of the food.

Year 4 Science
In Science this week, Year 4 explored melting by testing a range of materials including ice, chocolate, butter, jelly and candle wax. The children observed changes over time and learned that different materials melt at different temperatures.

Year 1 enjoyed their science based visit to the safari park this week. We were very lucky with the weather as many of the animals were out enjoying the sunshine! It was amazing to see penguins up close too as we have spent lots of learning time writing about them and understanding their adaptations.

Year 1 have completed the final step of their DT project, creating a moving story book page. This time the children based their characters on animals from Antarctica. They worked hard to create a character, a background and ensured that the characters could move up and down and from left to right.

Year 1 Science
Wow!! Our Science week lesson was a really exciting today. The children had been challenged to think about Curious Chemistry. They started with milk, food colouring and washing up liquid to make the colours move and then they used skittles to create rainbows on their plates. It was a huge challenge to observe only with our eyes, but the results were amazing!

Year 4 Science
Year 4 kickstarted British Science Week with lots of curiosity as they explored the fizzy reaction between citric acid and bicarbonate of soda to make their own sherbet sweets. They tasted the ingredients and created their own recipe based on their taste preferences, before enjoying their sherbet by dipping in a lollipop. Yum!
