Year 1 have been working hard over the last half term to identify different types of things in our environment. We learnt that things can be categorised into 5 areas: Transport, Residential areas (houses and where we live), Open spaces (parks), economic activity (shops and where we buy things), and public services (things that help other people). We spent time finding examples of each on the map. Then we mapped out a route where we could find lots of these examples. We went on our walk and the children took pictures of the different elements that they found, categorising them into the 5 areas. When we got back we mapped the route and plotted where we found the different examples onto the map. Have a look at our pictures. Can you tell which group they belong to?
