Ambassadors

At West Park Primary School, we believe that children should have opportunities to have their voices heard, take responsibility and make a positive difference to our school community.

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to take on a range of Ambassador roles. These important leadership positions allow children to represent their peers, support younger pupils and work alongside staff to help make West Park the best it can be.

Ambassador Roles

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils can take on a variety of ambassador roles across the school. These may include:

Head and Deputy Pupils

Our Head Boys, Head Girls, Deputy Boys and Deputy Girls are senior pupil leaders who act as role models and ambassadors for West Park. They represent our school at important events, welcome visitors, support assemblies and work alongside school leaders. They are expected to demonstrate our school values and set an excellent example for other pupils.

School Council

Our School Council ensures that pupils have a voice in decisions about school life. Representatives listen to the ideas and views of their classmates and bring these to School Council meetings. They discuss ways to improve our school, contribute to projects and help pupils understand that their opinions are valued.

Digital Ambassadors
Digital Ambassadors help promote safe, responsible and positive use of technology. They support our work on online safety, gather pupil voice and help other children understand how to stay safe in the digital world.

Maths Ambassadors

Our Maths Ambassadors use their enthusiasm for mathematics to support other children.They work with younger pupils to practise key mathematical skills, play maths games and help children to develop their confidence, fluency and enjoyment of maths.

English Ambassadors
English Ambassadors help us develop a love of reading and writing across West Park. They promote books, encourage other children to read and help us celebrate reading throughout the school.

Sports Ambassadors
Sports Ambassadors encourage children to be active and enjoy physical activity. They may support games, activities, sporting events and help promote positive attitudes towards PE and sport.

Wellbeing Ambassadors
Wellbeing Ambassadors help promote positive wellbeing across our school. They encourage kindness, friendship and inclusion and help ensure that pupils know where they can find support.

Eco Ambassadors
Eco Ambassadors help us think about how we can look after our school environment and the wider world. They encourage everyone to make environmentally responsible choices and help lead projects to make West Park greener.

Playground Buddies

Our Playground Buddies help make our playground a happy, welcoming and inclusive place. They support younger children at breaktimes and lunchtimes, encourage pupils to join in with games and activities and help children who may be feeling lonely or unsure about who to play with. Playground Buddies model kindness, friendship, inclusion and positive play.

Our ambassadors are expected to take an active role in their area of responsibility. They may attend meetings, gather the views of other pupils, support assemblies, help with school events, contribute ideas, lead campaigns and work with members of staff to plan improvements. Where appropriate, ambassadors also have opportunities to share their work with parents, governors and visitors.

Our Ambassador programme is an important part of developing pupil leadership at West Park. We want our children to understand that their ideas matter and that they can make a genuine difference to their community. By giving our Year 5 and 6 pupils meaningful responsibilities, we help them develop the confidence, independence and leadership skills that will support them as they move on to secondary school and beyond.
