Outstanding Teaching Assistant Programme

1/13

At West Park Primary School we have some very talented teaching assistants who are committed to providing your child with the best education possible. They work hard both in and out of the classroom ensuring that every child at West Park is helped to "Be the best they can be!".

The OTAP content includes:

  • -understanding what an outstanding teaching assistant looks like?

  • -key definitions and audits of strengths & weaknesses

  • -coaching for deep learning

  • -new learning on differentiation

  • -creating and leading an in-school project

  • -developing a success criteria

  • -what is effective questioning?

  • -action planning and evaluation

The programme has enabled delegates to share ideas and strategies to help move children's learning on even more, and therefore had a wider impact on improving the quality of teaching and learning across school.

Staff have enjoyed carrying out this programme and have produced some fabulous displays and resources. These resources have encouraged and engaged children well and also challenged children to develop their deeper thinking. We would like to share some of their amazing work and thank them for their time and effort they give to our children and the school.

TAs are also part of the whole school Visible Learning programme and are focusing on improving the quality of feedback given to children in lessons.
